ATLANTA -- The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have dismissed sophomore B-back Dedrick Mills, the team announced on Friday.

In a statement, Georgia Tech Athletics said Mills was released for a violation of Georgia Tech athletics department's rules.

In his freshman season, Mills had 771 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. He was the team's leading rusher, and was the MVP of the TaxSlayer Bowl.

But he was suspended for two games last season in November for a violation of team rules. He was also suspended for the team's game against Mercer for the same reason.

Georgia Tech never elaborated on what led to the suspensions.

Mills is from Waycross, Georgia.
