ATLANTA -- The turf has been installed, and now Georgia State has announced a new name for the field of its new stadium, formerly known as Turner Field.

The Panthers announced they will name their football field Parker H. Petit Field at Georgia State Stadium.

Petit is a prestigious alum of the university who earned is MBA in finance in the university's J. Mack Robinson College of Business. He has donated millions to the school, including a $10 million donation to the school's athletic program. Petit is a healthcare executive and founded Healthdyne, an international manufacturer of healthcare devices. He is the chairman and CEO of MiMedx Group.

11Alive confirmed the university is still attempting to secure naming rights for the stadium, which will be referred to as Georgia State Stadium until a deal is reached.

The stadium's first event is Aug. 18 when it will host the opening of the high school football season, the Corky Kell Classic.
