ATLANTA -- The GHSA attempted to reschedule the postponed state championship games and keep them at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a spokesperson told 11Alive. However, they were unable to because of a college football bowl game that is scheduled next Saturday.

The GHSA was forced to postpone six of the eight state championships scheduled for Dec. 8-9. They were moved to Dec. 15-16 because of snow and the persistent threat of re-freezing. The GHSA and stadium officials met on Saturday, but they could not figure out a way to reschedule the games at the Atlanta Falcons' home.

Grambling State and North Carolina A&T are scheduled to play at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the Celebration Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 16. Because the teams need practice time at the stadium and there are other preparations taking place, the GHSA could not schedule games for Friday at the stadium. In addition, GHSA bylaws and rules state teams cannot play on Sunday.

"We regret not being able to play our full schedule of championship games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, but GHSA's priority is the safety of teams and fans traveling to the game," the GHSA said in a statement posted on social media.

It is not yet known if the GHSA attempted to reach out to other stadiums in the area.

The games have been rescheduled. Click here for the new schedule.
