The Pike County Pirates go on the road to face the Jackson Red Devils in a chance to take control of Region 4 AAA in the #Team11 Game of the Week Friday.

Jackson goes into the game in first place in the region after a 2-0 start. The Red Devils (4-2) have won three consecutive games, scoring at least 30 points in all three contests. They had back-to-back shutout victories to start the winning streak.

They have been led by senior running back and wide receiver Antavius Grier. Grier has 695 rushing yards this season, and twice this season he has rushed for more than 200 yards in a game.

The Red Devils are 18-6 all-time against the Pirates, but they lost the previous two meetings in 2012 and 2013. Before that, the Red Devils had won 12 straight contests against the Pirates, dating back to 1986.

The Pirates are coming off a huge region victory against Central (Macon). It was their first region victory since Oct. 3, 2014. The Pirates were winless in Region 4 AAAA last season, 1-9 in the regular season.

The Pirates (4-1) have won four consecutive games, their longest winning streak since 2010 when they won their first five games of the season. They are led by junior running back C'Bo Flemister who has three touchdowns on the ground this season.

Pike County has played all of its games on the road this season while its new stadium is being built. Friday's game will be the Pirates' final road game before playing the final four games at home.

The two teams used to be region foes back in 2013 before Pike County moved up to AAAA. Pike County returned to AAA this season.

The Pirates will look to derail the defending region champions and put themselves in contention to make the playoffs for the first time since 2013. The Red Devils have made playoff appearances the last two years.
