MARIETTA, Ga -- You couldn't wipe the smile off his face even if you tried. He was that excited.

Pope High School senior Ryan Webb signed to the University of Georgia's baseball team on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period that lasts until Nov. 16 when student athletes can sign their national letter of intent for all sports except football.

Webb was one of nine high school athletes at Pope High School to sign a letter of intent, but he did it with the most style, wearing UGA suspenders.

Webb's teammate, Jared Miller, signed with Notre Dame, as well.

Webb spoke to 11Alive after signing and detailed the lofty goals he has set for himself in college, including winning SEC Pitcher of the Year and bringing a College World Series back to Athens. The Bulldogs were national champions in 1990.

"I've been a Bulldog fan my entire life. It's really a dream come true," Webb said. "I can't wait to get on and play for [Coach Scott] Strickland and join the red and black."
