The SEC's four-day preseason media event is leaving Alabama for the first time since 1985 and will be held in new cities, including Atlanta.

SEC Media Days, which features press conferences for every head coach in the conference and player interviews, will be held at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta in 2018. It will be held July 16-19 at the Hall of Fame, and CNN Center and the Omni Hotel will also be used for the event.

The event will return to the Hyatt-Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover, Alabama in 2019. Then, it will likely be held in various new cities in future years, according to the conference. Hoover will be a periodic sight for the event.

“The Hall of Fame was relocated to Atlanta, the capital of college football, for events just like this and we are perfectly situated in the center of all the activity,” Dennis Adamovich, CEO of the College Football Hall of Fame, said in a statement. “We are grateful to the SEC for allowing us the opportunity to host such an important event.”

“SEC Football Media Days is a signature event for our conference and we are pleased the city of Atlanta will host this kickoff to the 2018 college football season,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said. “SEC Football Media Days is now added to Atlanta’s inventory of great events, which includes the annual SEC Football Championship Game and this season’s College Football Playoff Championship Game. We are looking forward to building an exciting week next July to feature our student-athletes and coaches.”

Fans from SEC teams usually travel to SEC Media Days to get a glimpse of the coaches and players and get autographs. The schedule for the event has not been released.

It is not known which cities will host the event in the future.
