Why curling fans are shaving off their beards before gold medal game

#HamiltonMustacheMilita is quickly growing.

The beard era may be coming to an end thanks to Olympian Matt Hamilton.

The U.S. curler-- who some think looks like Andy Reid and Mario-- posted on social media before the team's semifinal match against Canada that he needs a militia. A mustache militia.

Plenty have joined, shaving all the hair off their face except on their upper lip to support the U.S. curling team.

Nothing to shave? No worries. Some are putting on fake mustaches. The number in the #HamiltonMustacheMilita has spiked now that the U.S. is playing for its first gold medal in curling early Saturday morning against Sweden.

Look at all the people joining in.
