MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- The UGA fans know who Reggie Davis is. Now everyone else does, too.

Davis played for a significant amount of time during the Atlanta Falcons first preseason game against the Miami Dolphins and made a couple of great receptions and punt returns.

His first catch was early in the game on third down, which moved the chains for Matt Shaub.

He nearly had a touchdown on his second reception, but it was called back for holding on rookie tight end Eric Saubert. Third string quarterback Matt Sims found Davis in the middle of the field, and after the catch, he cut right and found room to run.

Davis led the team in receiving yards with 43 with two receptions, his longest 27 yards.

Unfortunately, fellow UGA rookie Quicy Mauger had a bit of a tough night. While he had a tackle early in the game, he accidently muffed a punt Davis was trying to wave off.

Davis' speed makes him an attractive backup returner (likely to Andre Roberts) and receiver, but he never did anything spectacular at Georgia and is known for dropping passes. He went undrafted during the offseason, and the Falcons signed him as a free agent.

He's had a few dropped balls in camp. But on Thursday, he helped his case to stay with the team for now.
