BARROW COUNTY, Ga. -- Officials have charged the driver of a tractor-trailer in connection with a fatal accident on Georgia Highway 316 in Barrow County on Wednesday.

The accident blocked traffic in both directions for nearly 10 hours on Georgia 316 near Patrick Mill Road.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, at around 1:30 p.m., a Dodge 3500 pulling a trailer, a 1989 red Dodge Ram 50 pickup truck and a tractor-trailer were traveling westbound in the right lane on Ga. 16. The driver of the Dodge 3500 stopped when it wasn't able to pass a mower that was straddling the lane. The driver of the pickup slowed down as it approached the rear of the Dodge 3500. The tractor-tractor then struck the rear of the pickup truck, causing its front end to hit the Dodge 3500.

The tractor-trailer overturned.

The driver of the Dodge Ram, 29-year-old Cody Grayson Brantley, of Winder, Ga., was killed.

The driver of the Dodge 3500, 44-year-old Richard Shane Moore, was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center.

Police have charged the driver of the tractor-trailer, 40-year-old Roger Bly, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., with second-degree homicide by vehicle and following too closely.
