BARROW COUNTY - Highway 316 at Kilcrease Road has reopened after an accident caused hazardous chemicals to spill.

The crash happened just before 7 a.m. on Monday.

Captain Scott Dakin with Barrow County Emergency Services said three vehicles were involved. One of the vehicles, a pick-up truck, was carrying pool cleaning supplies. The impact of the crash caused the chemicals including hydrochloric acid, muriatic acid, chlorine and sodium bicarb to spill and mix together. Drivers avoided the area for most of the morning. "We are on the scene of a motor vehicle collision at this intersection. The accident also involves a hazardous material incident which has caused us to shut down the area," Cpt. Dakin said.

Two people were taken to the hospital. One suffered injuries from the accident, the other person is being treated as a result of the hazmat spill.
