ATLANTA – Several Cheshire Bridge Road businesses have joined together with a series of special offers to celebrate the reopening of the I-85 bridge.
The Dine & Shop Week is hosted by the Cheshire Bridge Road Restaurant & Retail Association, the Piedmont Heights Civic Association, the Lindridge Martin Manor Neighborhood Association, the Morningside Lenox Park Association and Invest Atlanta, the city of Atlanta’s economic development agency.
“This is an important first step in ensuring that the businesses along this important corridor recover as quickly as possible from the significant negative economic impact the I-85 bridge collapse has had,” said Atlanta city councilman Alex Wan. “It will take some time, however it is great to see the adjacent neighborhoods join me in welcoming the broader community back to the restaurants and retailers that make this area so special.”
Some of the participating businesses include the Nakato Japanese Restaurant; Antiques & Beyond; and Ready Trading.
According to an Invest Atlanta survey, more than 80 percent of nearby businesses said they had lost customers due to the closure. More than 40 percent of business owners questioned say it will take more than three months for them to rebound.
