The first crash happened around 1:45 a.m. when police said a motorcyclist heading southbound on I-75/I-85 struck another vehicle from behind near the intersection with Langford Pkwy (SR-166). Investigators said the biker was speeding when the crash happened.
He was ejected from his bike, landed on the interstate and died on the scene. The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office identified him as 37-year-old Dwayne Parker Jr. of Stone Mountain.
According to police, this crash caused two other motorcycles to crash and traffic slowed.
"As vehicles slowed for the accident, a second motorcycle struck the rear end of a vehicle and a third motorcyclist lost control of his bike and crashed while attempting to avoid the slowing vehicles," a statement from Atlanta Police read.
Those motorcyclists were transported to Grady Hospital in stable condition. At this time, no charges have been filed.
