MARIETTA, Ga. -- A pedestrian has been rushed to the hospital after being hit by a car while crossing the road in Cobb County Friday night.

Marietta Police said that at around 10:30 p.m. a Nissan Murano was traveling north on Powder Springs Street toward Sandtown Road when, for unknown reasons, 24-year-old Jeronimo Perez, attempted to cross in an area with no crosswalk.

The driver of the Murano was unable to stop and hit Perez. The victim has been taken to Wellstar-Kennestone Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the car were not injured.

The Marietta Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit is investigation and asks anyone with information on the accident to contact Officer E. Henderson at 770-794-5364.
