Two people were killed in an accident Monday morning near 1460 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Fulton County Medical Examiner's office confirms 43 year old Misty Luke and 44 year old Jonathan Caplenas were killed in the crash that also sent another driver to the hospital in critical condition.

Atlanta Police said around 7:44 a.m., a 2008 Ford Mustang was traveling west on M. L. King Jr. Drive when the driver lost control. Police said the Mustang skidded sideways into the eastbound lanes and collided with a Ford Fusion.

"In the preliminary part of this investigation it appears to have lost control possibly due to the weather conditions and that vehicle entered a sideward slide and was struck by a Ford Fusion," said Brian Paden, Commander of Accident Investigations with the Atlanta Police Department.

At this time criminal charges are not anticipated in connection with this collision.

Investigators are working to determine what factors may have caused the accident.
