Some severe thunderstorms moved across parts of north and central Georgia through the evening hours after blasting across metro Atlanta during the evening rush hour, knocking down tree limbs and knocking out power for many areas.

No injuries were reported as the storms moved through the area, but quite a few power lines and tree limbs were reported down, primarily in Douglas, Gwinnett and DeKalb counties in the metro area.

At the storm's height, about 50,000 Georgia Power customers were reported to be without power. The utility was working through the afternoon and evening hours to restore power for customers across the state affected by the storms.

11Alive's Chris Holcomb and the 11Alive Storm Trackers will have a full wrap-up on the storms and a look ahead at the weather going into the weekend, and another round of storms expected to wash over our Saturday and Sunday hours. He will have a full update on 11Alive News this evening and on 11Alive.com.
