Here's your timeline for Monday's severe weather

Here's a look at when you can expect severe weather in your neighborhood on Monday.

11Alive Chief Meteorologist Chris Holcomb says the National Storm Prediction Center in Norman Oklahoma has upgraded parts of Georgia and Alabama to an "enhanced" risk or "level 3" area for Monday for severe storms -- especially in northwest Georgia.

Much of Georgia and metro Atlanta are in a "slight" risk -- or a "level 2" -- area for severe weather.

The primary risk for Monday afternoon and evening are for damaging winds and wind gusts, frequent lightning, large hail and isolated tornadoes beginning after about 2 p.m., and going into Monday evening.

Here's your timeline for the upcoming severe weather:

Sunday

Warm weather across most of Georgia with highs in the 70s is the order of the day.

Sunday night

Overnight, clouds will be on the increase as lows fall back into the mid-50s. The chance for showers increases as we move toward daybreak.

Monday

Temperatures will move back toward 70 degrees in metro Atlanta as rain moves in across much of the state. Chris says the chance for severe weather increases as the day progresses with the highest probability coming after 2 p.m., and into the evening hours.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has placed most of Georgia in a SLIGHT risk area for severe weather Monday, while northwest Georgia is in a MODERATE risk area.
