School activities cancelled ahead of severe weather

School systems have begun canceling after school activities because of the severe weather threat.

The entire metro Atlanta area is under an increased risk for severe weather. Beginning around 3PM, we will start to see isolated thunderstorms throughout the state. Some of those isolated storms could be supercell storms.

Because of the forecast, school systems have begun canceling after school activities.

LIST OF CLOSURES

Bartow County Schools - "All after-school activities that begin after 6 p.m. today are canceled. The Board of Education meeting will begin at 6 p.m. as scheduled."

Carroll County Schools - "All Carroll County Schools after-school activities including ASP programs, practices, rehearsals and extracurricular events are canceled for today, March 19 due to possible severe weather."

Cherokee County Schools - "On behalf of the Superintendent, please be advised that due to the National Weather Service’s inclusion of Cherokee County into the Enhanced Risk Zone Monday evening, CCSD will cancel all after-school activities, practices and programs that begin after 6 p.m. today (3/19/18). #SafeCherokee"

Clayton County Schools - "Due to anticipated adverse weather conditions, Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) is cancelling all extra-curricular events and afterschool programs for Monday, March 19, 2018. The only exception is the Campus Kids afterschool program. Parents/guardians are asked to drive with extra care when taking their children home at the conclusion of this school day."

Cobb County Schools- "All evening activities for Monday, March 19th, are canceled due to weather."

DeKalb County Schools - "Due to impending inclement weather, all after school activities are canceled today, March 19, 2018. The After School Extended Day Program will continue as scheduled."

Douglas County Schools - "All after school activities for the Douglas County School System have been canceled for Monday, March 19, 2018, due to expected inclement weather. This includes all After School Programs (ASP), athletic practices and games, professional learning, and other events. Parents with children in ASP will have until 4:00 to pick up their children.

The Board of Education meeting will take place as scheduled. The student recognition portion has been canceled."

Fulton County Schools - "Fulton County Schools is canceling after-school activities for Monday, March 19, except for extended learning and after-school care."

Floyd County Schools - "Good afternoon, Floyd County families! Due to the threat of severe weather, all after school and extracurricular activities are cancelled for Monday, March 19. After School Care will close promptly at 5 pm. Stay safe and enjoy the rest of your day."

Paulding County Schools - "Due to the potential for severe weather this evening (3/19), the Paulding County School District is canceling all after-school and evening activities. Parents whose children participate in Learning Bridge are encouraged to pick up their children no later than 5:00 p.m. Heavy storms, hail and tornadoes are a possibility beginning later this evening, and the school district encourages you to be weather-aware and take safety precautions as needed."
