Patrick Crosby looks at the pros and cons of living near a Marta station and explains why Atlanta is considered one of the most dangerous cities to drive in.
Marta (Metropolitan Atlanta Transit Authority) is moving ahead with several so-called transit-oriented projects that could transform some of its rail stations.
The agency wants to incorporate commercial real estate around transit stations as a way to attract and accommodate the influx of people moving back into the city.
The Marta Midtown Arts Station has been in the news of late with reports that Cousins Properties and the Integral Group could consider building four buildings nearby with interconnectivity to the station. There has also been talk of adding a hotel into the mix.
Columbia Ventures is currently working in partnership with Marta to develop a residential project near the Edgewood-Candler Station. It’s all part of Marta’s plan to maximize what it says is underutilized land around its properties.
This widespread development is having a significant impact on nearby real estate prices, especially when it come single-family homes and apartments.
