Executive Profiles Week of October 9

Alicia Philipp, President of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, talks about getting more people engaged in philanthropy.

The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta connects philanthropists with local initiatives while at the same time managing their wealth and investing in efforts to make Atlanta a better place.

Nearly $100 million a year is donated to the Foundation, often from a mix of individuals, other foundations and family estates.

The organization recently launched its own fundraising initiative with the goal to acquire $1.6 billion in assets by the end of 2018.

Alicia Philipp has led the Foundation for almost 30-years.  It was a $7 million a year operation when she took over the reins in 1977.  Today, it controls just under a billion dollars in assets.
