ATLANTA -- For workers at the airport, hospitals, police and fire stations, newsrooms and more, Labor Day is much like any other day, but a little kindness can make it more special.
It certainly was for me.
At work Monday, I was inspired to do something for those in the business of labor -- Labor & Delivery nurses at Piedmont Hospital, where I had my daughter earlier this year.

At lunchtime I picked up some of my favorite treats and delivered them with a simple note: "A Random Act of Kindness as you labor on Labor Day. Thanks for taking such sweet care of us mommies and our munchkins!"
As luck would have it, my own L&D nurse Shay was on duty. You couldn't ask for a kinder person when you need it most, so I knew she would pass on the kindness and share the sweets.
What made it extra warm and fuzzy was that all these months later, Shay still remembered me! As a mom, you never forget your L&D nurse. The fact that she remembered me made my day.
