Stone Mountain is turning into Snow Mountain this winter! Watch the snow accumulate, and then, after New Year's, come back to this page to see just how much fun people can have in the snow in Georgia!
This holiday season, Stone Mountain Park will transform into a winter wonderland with a first-of-its-kind Atlanta attraction: Snow Mountain. Every weekend from December 31, 2008 through March 1, 2009, you'll be able to hit up Snow Mountain for wintertime events you only thought you could do up north!
Love tubing? Zip down the 400-foot tubing hill! Want to just play in the snow? There's 30,000 square feet for you to enjoy! Bring the whole family; there's activities for everyone!
Tickets for Snow Mountain include a two-hour tubing session, plus access to all the snow play areas. This is going to be pretty popular, so you'll want to get your tickets in advance; visit snowmountainpark.com to reserve your spot!
Oh, and one more thing: remember how last year the drought prevented this from happening? Well, since then Stone Mountain Park has put in a closed-loop system borrowing water from Stone Mountain Lake, purifying it and turning it into snow, thereby making sure water isn't wasted.
Nearly 70 percent of kids living in Metro Atlanta have never seen significant snow -- and we're not talking about the few inches that fell in early 2008. Come out to Snow Mountain and experience winter like you never thought you could.
