Clayton County Animal Control has issued a red alert.
They say more than 20 dogs are at the highest risk of euthanasia.
They are pleading with the public to either adopt or foster the dogs.
According to their Facebook page, the dogs on the list have special needs or they have been at the shelter for too long and are at risk of illnesses.
The deadline to help these dogs is 1:00 p.m. September 20, 2016.
