2013 CSA Beneficiary: Multiple Sclerosis Center of Atlanta

Since its inception in 2001, the Multiple Sclerosis Center of Atlanta (MSCA) has focused on offering those afflicted with MS a single site that understands both the unpredictable nature of the disease and provides the resources to the patient for a lifetime of medical care. Now a regional treatment facility with 4,300 patients from 28 states, the Center extends care to a medically underserved population through the use of a team of physicians, nurses, staff and supporters focused on providing comprehensive care to the patient and support to the family.
Good care is a function of knowledge, compassion, applied research and accessibility, but the real success stories have been the many patients who every day win the battle against this incurable disease. The physicians and staff at MSCA strive to demonstrate to every patient we serve that it is our mission to always improve the patient's health and hope through advocacy, education, state-of-the-art treatment and research.
There is a formidable challenge ahead. As more disease altering treatments come available, the need is greater to have treatment facilities that understand multiple sclerosis. Even though the future is brighter than ever, today only half of all existing MS patient in Georgia are receiving reliable, effective treatment due to the lack of accessible care and the cost of treatment.
MSCA's care begins with diagnosis, education, early treatment, symptom management and our support continues to help every patient live with MS, "Accept, Take Control, and Move On!"
