On Sept. 26, 2015, Devon Gales, who played for Southern University, was severely injured during a tackle. Gales has been recovering at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta ever since.
He's been sharing updates on his progress since then, and in May, Gales tweeted a video of him taking his first steps during therapy nearly two years after being injured.
Gales is making another big step forward in his recovery, and on Monday, he posted video to Instagram of him throwing a football during rehab, something he said felt incredible to do again. He captioned the video with, "PUT ME IN COACH IM READY!!!!!"
Since his injury, Gales and his family have developed a close relationship with UGA and its fans. The athletics association also launched a fundraiser to help build a home for him that's handicap-accessible.
