ATLANTA -- Food Network celebrity cook Paula Deen and Smithfield Foods donated 25,000 pounds of protein to Hosea Feed The Hungry Monday morning - but one ham being tossed to Deen during the donation, smacked her in the face.

Deen was not hurt in the incident Monday morning.

"And he raised the ham up and I thought he was going to pass it down the line and I turned around to take another ham off the truck and turned around and all of a sudden this ham that weighed 200 pounds hit me full long in the face and 'bout knocked me cuckoo, but I'm fine," said a laughing Deen.

Deen confessed that jokingly saying the ham weighed 200 pounds was a bit overstated.

She said it actually only weighed about 8 pounds.

Some of the food Deen and Smithfield donated will be used to help with Hosea Feed the Hungry's annual massive feeding on Thanksgiving Day. Deen is a spokesperson for Smithfield.

The company also has its own organization called "Helping Hungry Homes" initiative which was established to make sure families do not go hungry. Its sizable donation wasn't the only one made to Hosea Feed the Hungry.

Publix is a partner with Smithfield, donating $13,000 to Hosea Feed the Hungry in conjunction with Smithfield and Deen.

Hosea Feed the Hungry is still in need of other donations for its Thanksgiving meal at Turner Field Thursday. The public can help out by to going to the organization's Web site.
