Groundhog General Beauregard Lee gets new home at nature center

After the closing of Yellow River Game Ranch in December, General Beauregard Lee has found a new home at Dauset Trails Nature Center in Jackson, Georgia.

JACKSON, Ga. – Georgia’s favorite groundhog will have a new home ahead of his national holiday on February 2.

After the closing of Yellow River Game Ranch in December, General Beauregard Lee has found a new home at Dauset Trails Nature Center in Jackson, Georgia.

General Lee arrived at his new home on Monday and has already made himself comfortable. Dauset Trails Nature Center is a private, non-profit which provides outdoor educational experiences that showcases Georgia’s native wildlife along with various trails and scenic areas.

At the nature center, General Lee is being housed in the animal care building at the nature center. However, you won’t be able to see General Lee until his special holiday.

Dauset Trails posted on Facebook that General Lee will be making his grand debut on Groundhog Day with a special ceremony celebrating ‘Georgia’s Official Weather Prognosticator.’ The gates will open at 6 a.m. with the ceremony beginning around 7 a.m. on February 2.
