BUFFALO, NY-- A Western New York woman is celebrating her 104th birthday!
Irene Breckenridge was born March 29, 1914.
Irene was born in Louisville, Kentucky and move to Lackawanna, and later Buffalo. Her daughter, Yvonne Lewis, tells us Irene is the oldest member of St. Martin de Porres Church.
Irene had nine children, five girls and four boys. Only four daughters are still alive and they take turns taking care of their mother, along with an aide and friends of the family.
Irene has 140 grandchildren and great grandchildren! They credit her longevity to never having smoked or drank alcohol, as well as raising some of her grandchildren.
Her daughter says she loves to sing church songs on Sunday and listening to music while eating her meals.
Her daughter-in-law, Barbara Breckenridge, is a kidney recipient and participated in the the U.S. and World Transplant games, winning 40 medals.
Irene will be celebrating her birthday with her family this weekend.
