Body recovered from Chattahoochee River in Atlanta

Officials believe the person may have been in the water for an extended period of time.

ATLANTA -- Fire officials confirmed in the mid-afternoon hours that they had found a body floating in the Chattahoochee River on Monday.

According to Atlanta Fire Rescue spokesperson Cortez Stafford, the body was found in the 2400 block of Marietta Road around 5 p.m. Stafford said they have not identified the body and that it may have been in the water for an extended period of time.

Police are also on the scene which is in the far northwestern corner of the city.
