5k Race / 1 Mile Walk / kids4DAD Event

In support of its mission to educate, support and encourage men to make healthier lifestyle choices to prevent disease, Men’s Health & Wellness is pleased to join a local organization, ProstAware, to present the run4DAD 5k Race / 1 Mile Walk / kids4DAD event on Saturday, June 17, 2017. The annual Father’s Day weekend road race is a certified race presented by Men’s Health & Wellness for the 8th consecutive year.

The run4DAD event will begin at 8:00 A.M., rain or shine, on Saturday, June 17, 2017, in the Home Depot/Costco Parking Lot located at 6400 Peachtree Dunwoody Road in Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Individual runner/walker pre-registration fee is $30; race day is $35. The registration fee for children under 12 is $15.

The phantom runner fee (“snoozin4DAD”) is $35. Registration forms may be found online at www.4dad.org. There are also opportunities to peer-fundraise for this cause and register as teams. Cancer survivors may contact Debbie Fuse at the information provided below for FREE registration. Survivors receive special recognition at the event.

This year’s race is again dedicated to former Men’s Health & Wellness Executive Director, Joe Blumberg, who lost his battle with prostate cancer in December, 2015. Joe was the dedicated organizer of the original Father’s Day race, formerly known as the Dash4Dad through a previous partnership with the ZERO Prostate organization. Joe often spoke about his journey with the disease and the importance of raising awareness for men. Along with our new partnership with ProstAware, we have rebranded the race—run4DAD—and remain committed to our mission and message to bring awareness and education to men and their families to defeat prostate cancer.

Jeff and Lynn Bostic are our Honorary Chairpersons for this year's race. Jeff was a famed member of the Washington Redskins "HOGS" offensive line and is a 3-time Super Bowl Champion. Jeff is also a prostate cancer survivor.

More than 600 runners are expected to participate in this event dedicated to maintaining patient education and support programs here in Georgia. Prizes will be awarded to winners in multiple age brackets. Race shirts and refreshments will also be provided for all registered participants.

This year’s run4DAD is supported by the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute, 11 Alive, Georgia Urology, UPS, Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia, Kapp Koncepts, AbbVie, Costco and Home Depot, among others.
