Teens shoot at APD officers during carjacking incident

Police have arrested three teens in connection with a Saturday morning carjacking incident that included shots being fired at officers.

Shots were fired at Atlanta Police officers late Saturday morning during a carjacking incident in northwest Atlanta.

According to Carlos Campos with the Atlanta Police Department, a Mercedes Benz automobile was carjacked on Westmoreland Circle, NW.

Police said there were five teens inside the car, and that they fired five shots at officers during the brief chase on the narrow streets in the subdivision where the car was stolen.

Campos said during the chase, the car wrecked, and the teens ran off.

Investigators said two suspects -- a 13-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl -- were arrested immediately by officers. A short time later, a third suspect -- a 17-year-old boy -- was also arrested by Atlanta police officers.

Atlanta Police told 11Alive News that a total of five teens were in the car at the time of the incident. Two other teens remain at large.

Police said no one was struck by any of the shots fired from the car, and that officers did not return fire.
