$385,000 in science-based scholarships given to 52 Georgia students

The money came from the all-women volunteer organization ARCS

ATLANTA -- Thursday was an important moment for advancing science in America as 52 students at four leading Georgia universities shared $385,000 in scholarship money.

The money came from the all-women volunteer organization ARCS and the students, both undergraduate and graduate, outlined their area of scientific or medical research to a packed auditorium at the Ritz Carlton in downtown Atlanta. Those students were from the University of Georgia, Morehouse, Emory, and Georgia Tech.

Since the ARCS Atlanta chapter first started giving the grants in 1992, students from the four colleges have received almost $5 million in scholarships.
