Fulton County to certify mayoral recount on Saturday

On Dec. 5, Keisha Lance Bottoms finished ahead of Mary Norwood by 759 votes, a lead that has grown slightly as more votes have been counted.

Fulton County’s board of elections will certify its mayoral runoff recount on Saturday at 10 am.

On Dec. 5, Keisha Lance Bottoms finished ahead of Mary Norwood by 759 votes, a lead that has grown slightly as more votes have been counted.

Norwood is entitled by Georgia law to request a recount in margins of victory in such small margins of victory, which she requested last week.

Norwood is also arguing that a southwest Atlanta neighborhood, Loch Lomond, should not have been allowed to vote in the election. The neighborhood had been annexed in 2016, but Norwood said the Georgia Supreme Court has since voided the annexation.

Meanwhile, Bottoms is preparing for her inauguration in January as Atlanta's 60th mayor in history, and has already named her transition team.
