Atlanta Mayor-elect Keisha Lance Bottoms announced Tuesday afternoon that Larry Gellerstedt and Vicki R. Palmer have been selected to lead her transition team.
Gellerstedt and Palmer are Atlanta business leaders with more than 60 years experience between them managing large and successful organizations in metro Atlanta.
“As we continue to improve communities throughout Atlanta, it is vital that we build an administration that reflects the diversity of our City,” said Mayor-Elect Bottoms. “I am grateful to Larry and Vicki for their guidance and support as we build a team that ensures all Atlantans can participate in our City’s growth and success.”
Gellerstedt and Palmer plan to identify members of the full Bottoms transition team over the next few days and begin to advise the mayor-elect as she begins to appoint leadership positions within her administration.
Palmer is former executive vice president, finance and administration of Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc. Gellerstedt is Chairman of the Board and CEO of Cousins Properties. Both are deeply involved in philanthropy and civic matters in the city of Atlanta. Gellerstedt will serve as chairman of the Atlanta Committee for Progress in 2018. He currently serves as a Director for the Georgia Power Company, sits on the Advisory Council of Sun Trust Bank, Atlanta Division, and serves on the boards of the Georgia Research Alliance and Jesse Parker Williams Foundation. He is also a trustee of the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation.
Palmer was named one of 10 Lifetime Trustees for Spelman College after serving as a member of the Board of Trustees for nearly 20 years. She has also served on the boards of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, Woodward Academy, Woodruff Arts Center and the Joseph & Evelyn Lowery Institute. Currently, she serves on the board of Haverty's Furniture Company.
