Ticket prices for Elite 8 in Atlanta plummet after big upsets

While the shocking results and Cinderella stories may be good for creating a buzz, Loyola-Chicago and Kansas State's surprising runs don't appear to be creating a lot of demand for tickets.

This year's south region of the NCAA Tournament has left us all talking after a myriad of upsets.

While the shocking results and Cinderella stories may be good for creating a buzz, Loyola-Chicago and Kansas State's surprising runs don't appear to be creating a lot of demand for tickets, thus prices are in free-fall on the re-sell market.

The median ticket price and "get-in" price, or lowest price, are the lowest among the four region championships this weekend, according to data provided to 11Alive by VividSeats.com. The winners of each Elite 8 game earn a spot in the Final Four in San Antonio next weekend.

The median ticket price for Saturday's regional final at Philips Arena is $144 with a get-in price of $39. The get-in price dropped more than 50 percent the morning after Kansas State upset Kentucky. The Kansas State Wildcats will face the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers on Saturday.

It makes sense considering the proximity of the teams. Kentucky fans would have likely caused demand to increase since they are only about a 6-hour drive away from Atlanta. On the other hand, Chicago and Manhattan, Kansas are no quick trips.

Graphics provided by VividSeats.com show the dip in ticket prices in addition to the median and get-in prices for all four match-ups. Not all of the match-ups have been decided.
