DEKALB CO., Ga. - A fatal wreck blocked several southbound lanes on Interstate 85 at Interstate 285, approaching Spaghetti Junction Friday morning.
DeKalb County Police said around 5 a.m. North Central officers were dispatched to a wrong-way driver at Chamblee Tucker Road and I-85 South.
Police said the driver was traveling north on the southbound lanes.
A few minutes after the original call, the wrong-way driver crashed into another vehicle on I-85 South at Pleasantdale Road.
The 23-year-old wrong-way driver died at the scene, police said. The second driver sustained minor injuries.
Some alternates you can take to avoid any backup is Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, Lawrenceville Highway, and Buford Highway.
Crews are on the scene working investigate and clear the wreck.
