ATLANTA -- Thousands of revelers are expected to crowd Downtown Atlanta streets Wednesday night to ring in the New Year.

New Year's Eve activities for adults and families begin at noon near Underground. Events at the main stage are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and run through 12:30 a.m.

This year's headlining performer is musician and dancer Julianne Hough. She gained popularity as one of the professional dancers on the hit show Dancing with the Stars.

Hough will take the stage at 11:30 p.m. and help ring in the New Year as the peach drops.

The Peach drop event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.

The Peach Drop will be televised on MyATL-TV beginning at 11:30 p.m. 11Alive's Paul Ossmann will co-host the event.
