Child Hit By Car While Getting Off School Bus

Five-year-old girl was struck by a car at this intersection in Cobb County. She later died from her injuries.

A 5-year-old girl was struck and killed near the intersection of Holly Springs and Davis roads in Cobb County while getting off a school bus Wednesday afternoon.

According to Cobb police, as the girl exited the school bus and was preparing to cross the street,  she was hit by a Nissan Altima whose driver failed to stop for the bus.  The vehicle collided with the child. 

The girl was taken to Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta-Scottish Rite where she later died.

The driver of the Altima has been identified as 82 year-old Edith M. Anderson of Roswell, Georgia.

The collision is still under investigation and traffic charges are pending.
