ATLANTA -- Atlanta police are looking for two men who stole a million dollars worth of jewelry from Usher.
Police say the pop star left the jewelry in his SUV. When he came back out, somebody had cleaned out his jewelry, clothing and electronics.
On December 14, the pop star known as Usher had apparently flown back to Atlanta carrying a full complement of his personal clothing and jewelry. An Atlanta police report says Usher and an aide drove from the airport to a cell phone store near Lenox.
They went inside, and thieves struck Usher's black 2007 GMC Yukon. Within seconds, the police report says the thieves stole electronics, clothing worth $50,000 -- and watches, necklaces, rings and bracelets worth a million dollars.
Money-wise, Usher is loaded. A 2005 Forbes article describes his investments and his income valuing in the tens of millions of dollars.
Bruce LeVell runs the Diamond Warehouse in Gwinnett Co. He doesn't know what kind of jewelry Usher had, but he knows what's possible for a guy with his kind of money.
"In Mr. Usher's case there was a ring. Was the ring a D carat round? Or a VVs, which could easily drive the price of the diamond to five or $600,000?" asked LeVell.
Usher lost a total of sixteen pieces of jewelry. Levell figures he probably left his really pricey stuff at home.
