ATLANTA -- The Centers for Disease Control advise college students to get vaccinated against meningitis.
The disease kills hundreds annually, mostly affecting teenagers.
A number of states, including Georgia, have been working on legislation requiring college students to get vaccinated against the disease.

According to the CDC, studies indicate that college students in dorms, living in close proximity are at higher risk for getting meningitis.
Meningitis is the inflammation of protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord. The most common symptoms are headache and neck stiffness, associated with fever and confusion. Other symptoms include vomiting, an inability to tolerate light or loud noises.
