BUFORD, Ga. -- A good samaritan is being credited with saving the life of a dog that was apparently thrown out of a moving car.
Jamie Contreras says she saw the bloody head of a Boston terrier poking out of a plastic garbage bag on the side of Hamilton Mill Road in Buford.
Contreras and another driver rushed the injured dog to nearby Animal Hospital of North Gwinnett.
The dog - nicknamed Rocky - underwent the first of what will be several surgeries in coming weeks. Doctors were not able to save his right eye which was too badly injured in his fall.
Contreras says there's been an enormous outpouring of support from people who heard about Rocky's terrible ordeal. The Animal Hospital says people have already volunteered to pay all of his vet bills.
Contreras says she plans to adopt Rocky. She called 911 Friday morning and plans to file an official report with Animal Control so they can try to find the person responsible for hurting the animal.
