ATLANTA (AP) - The Legislature is for laws - and lovers.
Swept up in the fervor of the last day of the General Assembly, known as Sine Dei, the son of a Georgia senator proposed to his legislative aide atop the Gold Dome on Thursday evening.
Sen. Barry Loudermilk of Cassville beamed as he announced the engagement of his eldest son, Travis, to Sarah Redwine. The freshman Republican could hardly keep the secret or contain his excitement between casting votes.
The couple met rock climbing in November 2009. Travis Loudermilk is a district representative for Congressman Phil Gingrey. The senator says a wedding date has not been set, but could be as soon as this summer.
