Mugshot of standoff suspect Tyler Grogan.
ROSWELL, Ga. -- A man "well known to police" is in custody after a standoff that lasted all night, according to Roswell Police Lt. James McGee.
No one was hurt in the standoff at the Aspen Pointe Apartments on Gran Crique Drive, near Holcomb Bridge Road in Roswell.
Tyler Grogan was arrested Tuesday morning. Police said the 20-year-old has a long criminal record.
According to Roswell Police, Grogan broke into one apartment around 10:30 Monday night, holding at least one person hostage. When officers arrived, he fired two shots at them before later kicking through an adjoining wall to enter another apartment unit. The couple in that apartment heard the commotion and were able to escape before he entered.
At one point, police believed there were two suspects due to the suspect's "state of mind," according to McGee. Police are still questioning everyone involved and say there could have been as many as three hostages.
The standoff ended at 8:45 Tuesday morning after police say Grogan fell asleep on a couch. The hostage was then able to escape from the apartment, and minutes later police entered and arrested Grogan.
The Alpharetta Police Department, Milton Police Department and Forsyth County Sheriff's Office helped with the standoff.
