ATLANTA - Believe it or not, there was once a time when cupcakes could only be found in a grocery store bakery, or your mom's kitchen.
Now, just like Twitter or iPads, gourmet cupcakes are the newest trend, and cupcake shops and springing up left and right to prove it.
CamiCakes is just one of the stores turning the Cupcake Craze into a profitable business.
"CamiCakes launched in 2006 and it's named after my daughter Camille," said owner Andra Hall. "I was at a point in my life where I wanted to follow my dream, follow my passion, so I decided to do cupcakes."
Since then, the business has thrived. Camicakes is home to 24 flavors like sweet potato, chocolate raspberry almond cream, salted caramel and "The Elvis," each made daily.
"We are in the cupcake craze!" Hall smiled. "The lines on Saturday are out the door. We make thousands on Saturdays."
CamiCakes will soon introduce two new flavors and a new store location. To become part of the cupcake craze, you can visit CamiCakes at 2221 Peachtree Road NE. They're open Monday through Saturday, from 10:30am to 8:30pm and closed Sundays.
