Video: Braves and Braveheart program

94 year old WWII vet Clarence Crawford was a guest of the Braves Monday.

ATLANTA -- The Braves honored servicemen and women from all branches of the military Monday and also began a cooperative program with Emory University aimed at helping their transition to civilian life.

94-year-old Clarence Crawford of Dudley, Georgia was a special guest of the organization.  Crawford's grandson Josh worked through Operation Homefront to surprise Clarence.  Crawford was part of Operation Overlord at Normandy, and fought his way through Europe, including citations earned in the Battle of the Bulge.

To help veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan adjust to civilian life, today was the start of "Braveheart: Welcome Back Veterans Southeast Initiative".  At www.BraveHeartVeterans.org veterans can find clinical care, anonymous on-line screenings and referral services.

"They can type in their zip code and the nearest VA facility will pop up and if they need us to help them get in to that facility we'll do that" says Barbara Rodhbaum, PhD, director of Emory's Trauma and Anxiety Recovery Center.

Nearly 1,400 veterans and family members were admitted to Mondays game at Turner Field free of charge.
