Shoplifting has now become a billion dollar business.

The latest numbers show its adding up to a staggering $32-billion.

The National Retail Federation says much of the theft comes from organized crime looking to sell sought after merchandise on the Internet. In a down economy the Federation says consumers are looking for deals no matter where they have to go to find them and organized crime knows that.

Topping the list of stolen goods---Levi Jeans, Sony Play Station 3 Consoles and medications like Advil and Benadryl.

Why the significant increase in theft?

The retailers say thieves using sophisticated technology; are grouped in gangs and dealing with stores with fewer staff security officers.
