The W Hotel in Austin, Tex. (KXAN)
AUSTIN, Texas -- Four people were hurt when glass fell from the 24th floor of a hotel in Austin, Tex., last Friday.
Officials said two panes of glass fell from the 24th floor of the W Hotel in Austin, crashing to the hotel's pool deck below. They said the injuries were not serious.
The accident brings to mind last month's incident at the Midtown Atlanta W Hotel, where one woman was killed and another seriously injured when they fell from a 10th floor room after the window gave way.

W Hotels released a statement Friday afternoon, indicating the incidents at the two hotel properties are completely unrelated.
"The circumstances of the two incidents are quite different and that are totally unrelated. At the W Austin, a panel of glass broke on balcony railings on two unoccupied condo residences located above the hotel. As such, these are two completely separate incidents, at two very different types of buildings and locations (balcony railing versus window)," the statement said. "Teams of experts are currently investigating each event independently."
