ATHENS, Ga. -- Athens-Clarke County District Attorney Ken Mauldin on Friday filed for the death penalty against accused cop killer Jamie Hood.
Hood is accused of murdering Athens police officer Elmer "Buddy" Christian and injuring officer Tony Howard in a March shooting. He was on the run for three days and took eight people hostage before dramatically surrendering on live television.
In June, Hood was indicted on 70 counts, including malice murder in Christian's death and another last December.
