Ernest Contreras of the Texas Department of Public Safety said their 1966-model Piper Saratoga, which departed from Tara Field in south suburban Hampton, Ga., had stopped in Jackson, Miss., and was headed for Waco, Texas when it crashed in a farming and ranching community of North Zulch, in Brazos County, Texas.

Contreras said severe weather had been moving through the area when the plane crashed, but authorities were still investigating.

Friends of the family are requesting in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to the Brooke Butler Memorial Fund in care of the United Community Bank, 850 Eagles Landing Parkway, Stockbridge, GA 30281.
