ACWORTH, Ga. -- The season of giving has really hit home for some Acworth residents.
Some shoppers are playing Secret Santa for complete strangers!
It's a movement that is happening all over the country and at an Acworth Walmart.
Customers have been walking into the Cobb Parkway store and anonymously paying the bill for layaway items.
Store managers tell 11Alive News the Secret Santas usually request bills with holiday items like toys and electronics.
You can just imagine the customers' reactions.
"When they find out they have a zero balance, they can't say anything," said manager Greg Richoux. "It is the biggest rush of emotion that you can see. It's really touching."
A Walmart spokesperson says this has happened all over the country. The company released this statement Tuesday:
"We are seeing random acts of kindness from customers across the country who are anonymously paying off others' layaway items. We know that we have some of the best customers around and this type of generosity is just another example of that. We know that many Americans are still struggling in this economy and it's nice to see people trying to help each other and make the holiday season as joyful as it can be."
Richoux said now even some employees are inspired, and are paying it forward in the Secret Santa movement too.
