January and February are great times to hit the thrift and consignment stores. That's because many people clean out their closets at the end of the year to make room for holiday gifts or to get a tax deduction before December 31.

If you're out hunting for bargains, check out the Salvation Army Thrift store in Cartersville, where everything in the store is fifty percent off before they close the doors at the end of the month. "They are temporarily closing the store because of decreased sales and increased costs so we are going to be re-evaluating the circumstances here," said spokeperson Valerie Johnson.
